(WENN) - Keith Urban isn't fazed by the in-fighting between his  fellow 'American Idol' judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, calling the panel a "very alive and very  invigorating" place to work.

The country singer was caught between the two divas after they became  embroiled in a shouting match during try-outs in Charlotte, North Carolina on  Tuesday.

In video footage of the incident, Minaj can be heard yelling and swearing at  the diva, ranting, "I'm not f**kin' putting up with her f**kin' highness over  there," while Carey retorts, "Oh why, why do I have a three year old sitting  around me?"

Producers decided to cut the tension by calling off the auditions for the  day, but Urban insists he enjoyed the pair's heated exchange as it shows just  how "passionate" the two stars are about their jobs.

He tells Extra, "I was the U.N. (United Nations). I love it, I gotta  say. I love working with passionate people. I love artists. Everyone just sort  of expressing themselves. It's a very alive and very invigorating work  environment. A lot of passion."
